Embracing New Beginnings
Life is never static. It’s also one of the reasons that we enjoy living. That belief we can chart a different direction at any time, taking on that next challenge – embracing new beginnings when the right time comes.
It’s been in that same life-long process of evaluating change that I am incredibly proud to start a new path as the CEO of the Society of Industrial & Office Realtors (SIOR). To pivot and believe in the magic that so often comes from transformation.
Given my recent journey, I wanted to share a few thoughts that I hope will assist anyone considering a significant shift in their career:
Kindness & Professionalism.
It’s important to remember that our progress is made possible because of prior experiences. I believe someone can be both grateful for their previous place of work and rightfully excited to pursue a different chapter. How you make that transition is everything. In that theme, I want to thank Kidder Mathews for the incredible opportunity to work alongside such an accomplished team these last four years. While my office and role are changing, the valued friendships I have built there will always remain.
Taking Ownership.
When you are consciously aware of that pulling voice, don’t be afraid to explore the endless possibilities available to you. Take ownership then and there. You owe it to yourself and the company you work for. It doesn’t mean you aren’t currently part of a great business and culture – it simply might be time for you to make that next leap forward.
Trusting Your Instinct.
Some opportunities don’t come a second time. Life is too short to settle for things that you know are less than what is in you. Your dreams may scare you, but if you take that step of faith, I believe you will achieve levels you never thought possible. The world isn’t as frightening as you might think.
New Challenges Lead to Growth.
Take the time to closely evaluate what it is that you need for future minded growth. That may require acknowledging that what got you where you are today isn’t going to take you where you want to be tomorrow.
Remember you aren’t alone. It’s human nature to want to stay in our comfort zone. Change can be both challenging and daunting. However, managing and embracing change is also a key factor to your success.
Just remember that when you are ready, new beginnings can and will lead to greater things with the right planning. When it’s your time, take a deep breath and lean in.
