Champions in Your Life
The start to a New Year brings with it a new level of anticipation and possibilities. This month is particularly exciting as I prepare to start that next chapter in my career.
Over the Holidays, I spent a considerable amount of time thinking about my own journey in the commercial real estate industry. From those first days as an industrial broker in Los Angeles, later years growing Heger Industrial, my time with Kidder Mathews and the most recent role as CEO of SIOR Global.
This walk down memory lane reminded me how fortunate I have been over the last 30 years to have people who took a sincere interest in me. This was especially true with my early mentors like Ben Reiling and Jack Heger who showed me what excellence and integrity looked like.
There are also so many others who have played a critical role in my growth as a person and in this profession. They are those rare individuals who cheer you on along the way. They bring out the best in you. They are the first to speak their mind and challenge your thinking, but equally unapologetic in their encouragement and support.
All of this prompted the importance of slowing down and acknowledging those true champions in my life. To express my gratitude for playing such an impactful part of my professional life. More importantly, for your friendship. There isn’t enough space to list all the names, but I am confident you know who you are.
Looking to what is next for me, I hope to have the continued opportunity to pay back this community that has been so kind to me. To serve in support of tomorrow’s leaders in the same way I was welcomed. I do not believe there is a more crucial job than helping train up the next generation of professionals coming into the business.
I look forward to seeing you soon, wherever this next season takes me. Until then, please stay in touch!
